Job Summary
Provide instructional, behavioral, and personal care support as a 1:1 Paraeducator for students with IEPs under the supervision of the classroom teacher and program supervisor. The role requires lifting or assisting with students (including wheelchair use) and may include Crisis Prevention InstituteTraining/Safe Crisis Management or Quality Behavior Supports training. The position is a full-time school-year assignment that can terminate based on student placement or needs; it requires meeting education/credential requirements and completing annual staff development. The PA Department of Education requires annual 20 hours of staff development related to the position.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Hold a PA Paraeducator Credential of Competency Certificate (or be willing to complete the FREE online program within 6 months of hire date)
- Completed a minimum of 48 post secondary credits in ANY content area, or
- Completed an associate degree or higher in ANY content area
- Willing to complete 20 hours of staff development each school year AND provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to position each school year (pro-ration applies)
