Job Summary
Full-Time Personal Care Assistant/1:1 Paraeducator (School Age) at Manheim Central High School. Provides instructional, behavioral and personal care support per the student’s IEP under the supervision of the classroom teacher and program supervisor. Scheduled Monday–Friday, 6.75 hours/day (7:45 am–2:30 pm), 185 days/year. Minimum wage rate $18.90/hour with responsibilities including verbal communication, following directions, and basic data-entry/computer tasks. Requires High School Diploma or equivalent, plus credentials or qualifying experience (Credential of Competency or 2 years of postsecondary study or an associate degree or higher, plus 20 hours of annual staff development). Certifications in CPI/SCM or QBS required as directed. Physical requirements include lifting and assisting students (pre-school to 21 years) and, if needed, safe restraint training per CPI/SCM/QBS guidelines; ability to run/sprint after eloping students and assist as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
- Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraeducators through the PA Department of Education (or willingness to complete within 6 months)
- Have completed at least 2 years of postsecondary study with at least 48 credit hours (copy of transcript required)
- Possess an associate degree or higher
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality demonstrated through an approved assessment within 6 months of employment
- Provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to position each school year (pro‐ration based on hire date)
- CPI, Safe Crisis Management Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (SCM) or Quality Behavioral Solutions: Safety-Care Crisis Prevention (QBS) certification as directed by program needs
- Effective verbal communication and ability to follow directions
- Basic computer skills: data entry, internet/email usage, word processing and spreadsheets
- Ability to lift and assist students ranging from pre-school to 21 years old and physically restrain as trained in CPI/SCM/QBS when required
