Job Summary
Full-Time Personal Care Assistant/1:1 Paraeducator (School Age) assigned to provide instructional, behavioral and personal care support per the student’s IEP. Reports to classroom teacher and program supervisor. Position runs for the school year with potential termination based on student placement or needs. Requires CPI/SCM/Safety-Care certification and ability to lift or assist students (ages pre-school to 21) and to run/sprint to address eloping students. Requires High School Diploma or equivalency; options include credential of competency, 2 years of postsecondary study (48 credits), or an associate degree. Includes regular staff development hours (20 hours yearly) and basic computer skills. The role emphasizes Verbal communication, following directions, and physical readiness to support students and implement safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Education Required: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
- Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraeducators through the PA Department of Education (or willingness to complete within 6 months) or 2 years of postsecondary study with 48 credits or an associate degree or higher or meet approved assessment standard
- Provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities each school year
- Verbal communication skills and ability to follow directions
- Computer skills: data entry, internet/email usage, word processing and spreadsheets
- Certification Required: CPI, Safe Crisis Management Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (SCM) or Quality Behavioral Solutions: Safety-Care Crisis Prevention as directed by program needs
