Job Summary

Monitor assigned patients visually and audibly at all times, remaining at the bedside unless relieved by appropriate staff. Verbally redirect patients from at-risk behaviors, assist with calming or reorienting those in distress, and escort patients for diagnostic testing or ambulation when safe. Complete observation reports at assigned intervals, collaborate on identifying safety hazards, and immediately summon nursing staff for interventions or unusual behavior. Manage hand-offs of pertinent patient information, ensure room safety and order, and respond rapidly to emergencies while adhering to hospital policies and confidentiality requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent
  • Ability to read and understand written English communication including patient identifiers, pick and receiving location, isolation precaution notifications and other important patient information necessary to perform assigned task
  • CPR AED or basic life support healthcare provider (BLS-HCP) certification
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment
  • Ability to lift, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 50 lbs
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Ability to regularly sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to regularly stand
  • Ability to regularly walk
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to regularly climb or balance
  • Ability to regularly stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to regularly talk or hear
  • Demonstrates knowledge of department policies and procedures
  • Honors department's attendance, break, behavior, dress, personal hygiene, and safety codes
  • Complies with all confidentiality and other regulatory requirements
  • Complies with facility confidentiality and patient's rights policy as outlined in the facilities HIPAA policies and procedures
  • Post-Offer Medical, Background Screening and Drug Test
