Job Summary
Conduct thorough patient evaluations to assess impairments and functional abilities, then develop individualized treatment plans based on physician orders. Implement therapeutic interventions using various modalities, exercises, and manual techniques to maximize recovery while documenting progress and discharge summaries in compliance with regulations. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians and case managers, and oversee daily activities of Physical Therapy Assistants to ensure cohesive care. Regularly evaluate therapy outcomes to adjust strategies as necessary. This role involves working with diverse populations recovering from orthopedic injuries, neurological disorders, and post-operative rehabilitation within an onsite outpatient office at Virginia State University, with occasional rotating weekend hospital shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of Virginia
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients and team members
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems and other relevant software to track patient data
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience in a physical therapy setting
- Preference for outpatient services
- Experience working in collaborative healthcare environments
