Job Summary

Full-time On Site Victim Advocate in Daegu, Korea providing crisis intervention, advocacy, and support services under the Army Family Advocacy Program (FAP) and Victim Advocacy Program (VAP). Responsibilities include coordinating transportation, accompanying victims to medical/legal appointments, securing protective orders, linking to community resources, safety planning and risk assessment, crisis response within 20 minutes by phone or 60 minutes in person, and ongoing case management with timely data entry. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least two years of experience with domestic abuse/sexual assault victims, strong knowledge of relevant laws and resources, and the ability to work with diverse populations and military/civilian personnel; must hold a valid driver’s license and be available for 24/7 on-call advocacy. Salary range reflects base pay; benefits and incentives may apply.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, marriage, family, and child counseling, counseling or behavioral science, education, community health or public health
  • Two years' experience working with victims of domestic abuse/sexual assault violence or victim advocacy services
  • Working knowledge of family violence dynamics, safety planning, risk assessments, local community resources, and federal and state laws pertaining to domestic abuse or sexual assault, family law and the Victim Rights Bill
  • Ability to intervene in crisis situations, using sound professional judgment, ethical practice, and common sense
  • Ability to work independently to assess risk, develop, implement, and evaluate safety and intervention plans to meet victim needs
  • Demonstrated understanding, sensitivity, and empathy for victims
  • Ability to develop trusting helping relationships
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle license
  • Must possess transportation to transport victim in crisis (non-emergent) situations as a last resort
  • Must be able to provide on-call 24 hours/7 days per week victim advocacy services
