Job Summary
Conduct preliminary screenings for physicians by obtaining ocular and medical histories, measuring visual acuity, performing applanation tonometry, and assessing motility. Perform diagnostic testing including OCT, Optos, HVF, and IOL Master while assisting with office flow and minor procedures. Sterilize and set up instruments, maintain equipment such as bio-microscopes and lensometers, and organize consultation rooms and the microbiology laboratory with necessary supplies. Requires minimum 2+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant, familiarity with Electronic Medical Records, and knowledge of eye anatomy and retina disease. Full-time Monday to Friday schedule at Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York in the New York Metropolitan area.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant working in a clinical or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Experience with slit lamp microscope, and basic patient work ups
- Working knowledge of the eye anatomy, retina disease, and ocular medications
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)
