Job Summary
Provide comprehensive Christian pastoral ministry to inmates and staff, including counseling, conducting worship services, Bible studies, and arranging clergy visits. Facilitate access for religious volunteers across faith traditions and handle emergency and death notifications. Recruit, supervise, and train volunteers while promoting ministry visibility through jail tours and community presentations. Fulfill administrative requirements, generate computer reports, and develop financial partnerships with local churches and organizations. Maintain biblical standards in all interactions and manage basic fiscal resources. Requires a Master's degree from a regionally accredited seminary or equivalent theological credentials, ordained licensure, and practical incarceration experience. Full-time role involves extended standing, lifting up to 25lbs, and navigating facilities with stairs.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree from a regionally accredited Seminary (preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited Bible/Christian college with major/emphasis in Bible or Theology; OR
- Bachelor's degree with an additional of 30 hours of Bible from a regionally accredited University/Seminary, AND
- Ministry experience demonstrating theological competency/equivalence
- Ordained, licensed, or commissioned by local church/denomination
- Agreement with GNG Doctrinal Statement
- Ability to think, function and minister in accordance with biblical standards
- Appropriate methods and means of biblically dealing with human behavior situations
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Ability to identify and develop human, financial and material resources for conduct of the ministry
- Ability to connect with the community and encourage partnerships
- General fiscal management
- Basic computer skills using MS Office Suite (or similar) programs
- Personal Finances in Order
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the day
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs (Bibles/other sacred texts, curriculum, etc.)
- Ability to navigate facilities that may include stairs
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited Seminary (preferred)
- Incarceration Experience: An understanding of the correctional environment with practical service/ministry experience in a jail/prison preferred
- Proven track record of ministry involvement and commitment
- Experience in evangelism/discipleship/teaching
