Job Summary

Lecturers are sought for multiple departments (Biology, Chemistry, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, Physical Science, Engineering, and more) at South Texas College. The role involves mastering subject matter, planning and organizing instruction, employing engaging teaching strategies, evaluating student learning, maintaining records and deadlines, adhering to college policies, participating in college and program activities, contributing to curriculum development and growth of college missions, advising students, and supporting recruitment and retention. Qualifications require a doctorate or master’s degree in a related field, official transcripts (with foreign- transcript evaluation if applicable), excellent communication and organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to teach and contribute to the college’s instructional goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess appropriate academic preparation
  • Must be able to provide official transcripts
  • If transcripts from foreign institution, provide credential evaluation indicating education is equivalent to or beyond required qualifications from approved service
  • Credentials must meet requirements of 18 graduate hours in discipline

  • Ability to plan and deliver instruction, develop syllabi and outlines, and assess student learning
  • Commitment to college mission and professional responsibilities
  • Willingness to teach at multiple campuses or sites as required by college

Desired Qualifications

  • Doctorate or Master’s degree in a related field
  • Credentials must meet requirements of 18 graduate hours in discipline from regionally accredited institution or equivalent
  • Official transcripts and, if applicable, foreign transcripts with evaluation from NACES member service
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent interpersonal skills
