Job Summary
Intervenor to support people who are deafblind in London, ON. Provide communication support and assist with day-to-day living to enable independent living. Duties include relaying information through communication techniques, empowering individuals to participate in daily activities (including personal hygiene, meal preparation, house cleaning, volunteerism), providing personal care as required (including lifts/transfers, toileting, medication administration), assisting with goal development, program development, documentation and record-keeping. Requires a college diploma or certificate in an intervenor/deafblind field or related human services credential, ASL or SEE proficiency, valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle and ability to obtain insurance, and successful completion of in-house training; vulnerable sector police check required. Excellent communication skills in English; French may be an asset. This is a full-time role with 40 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 9:00am-5:00pm) in London, Ontario, Canada. Required Qualifications
- Completion of a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program, or: Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Services Worker (SSW), Community Services Worker (CSW), Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA), Personal Support Worker (PSW), Behavioural Science, or a related human services field.
