Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents live on-campus in student homes at Milton Hershey School, partnering as a married two-person team to care for a group of 8–13 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, medication administration, driving students to activities, planning/deploying development and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning from nine-on/three-off schedules to placed houseparent duties with the same students. Benefits include salary of $44,768 per person (~$168,000 total per couple), comprehensive health/dental/vision insurance, retirement savings, relocation assistance, paid training, and paid time off. The role requires on-campus residence in Hershey, PA, a valid driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a commitment to a smoke-free, weapon-free campus.
Required Qualifications
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
