Job Summary
Conduct regular patrols of hospital grounds, monitor surveillance systems, and control entry points to ensure site safety. Respond immediately to emergencies such as medical crises or fire alarms, while de-escalating conflicts and enforcing visitor and patient protocols. Greet visitors and staff, documenting daily activities and incidents accurately in written reports. Collaborate with hospital personnel and local law enforcement to maintain a coordinated security effort. Perform patient watch duties as needed, including continuous observation to prevent harm. This role supports the 24-hour emergency department at Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Candidates must hold a Nova Scotia Security License, valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR Level C, and English fluency.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
- Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
- English (oral and written) fluency
- High School Diploma/GED
- Intermediate First Aid/CPR C
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- 4-day on 4-day off; Rotational Shifts - 0700-1900/1900-0700
