Job Summary
Develop and maintain individualized patient care documentation, submitting accurate records within one working day of each visit. Assess client needs, administer prescribed medications and treatments, and perform specialized nursing skills including venipunctures, infusion therapy, and wound care. Coordinate home health services by reporting patient status to the Case Manager and supervising home health aides and licensed practical nurses per agency policy. Provide education and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnosis, self-care techniques, and medication management. Participate in on-call rotations, quality improvement programs, and in-service training to maintain competency in nursing trends and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Currently licensed as an RN through the State Board of Nursing
- Licensed driver with an automobile insured in accordance with state and/or Agency requirements and in good working order
- Must meet the required continuing education hours for state certification as a nurse in Texas
- Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication
- Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, which may include heavy lifting and extensive bending and standing
- Ability to deal effectively with stress
- Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligation
- Self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision
- Good organizational skills
- Excellent observation, good clinical judgment, and good oral and written communication skills
- Good physical stamina and mental health
- Completed the agency pre-employment health clearance
Desired Qualifications
- One year's clinical experience
- Current home health, medical, surgical, or critical care experience
