Job Summary
The College of Engineering & Technology at Grand Canyon University is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach Mechanical Engineering. Responsibilities include equipping students with essential skills, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance, and assisting in curriculum design and strategic planning within the engineering field. The position requires a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field along with 1-3 years of relevant work or teaching experience. Candidates should have substantial knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and be able to teach related courses. Preference will be given to candidates with a Doctoral degree and additional years of experience.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience in an engineering field or higher education teaching experience in an engineering program
- An extensive, advanced, and current knowledge of Mechanical Engineering, specifically, in one of the following sub-disciplines – dynamics, dynamic systems and control, and material science, or a closely related field
- Able to teach related coursework in Mechanical Engineering
- Ability to articulate a clear understanding of values-based education from a Christian perspective
Desired Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar, from a regionally accredited institution
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience in an engineering field and engineering teaching experience
- Familiarity with higher education, curriculum planning, best teaching and administrative practices; or a record of excellence in teaching
- Understanding of the various methods of adult learning
- Background in Dynamics and Controls
