Job Summary
Academy Instructor responsible for classroom and hands-on CDL-A instruction to ensure students meet DOT CDL-A testing requirements. Instructs on pre-trip inspections, vehicle knowledge, driving maneuvers (including straight back, offset backing, sight-side maneuvers, and alley dock), observes students, evaluates progress in the learning management system, and administers ELDT training and tests with JJ Keller. Maintains student completion records and coordinates with trainer supervisor as needed. Requires valid CDL-A and medical card with 3 years of verifiable CDL Class A experience; proficient in all taught maneuvers, ability to drive a manual transmission, and successful completion of the Academy facilitator training program. Schedule is FULL TIME, Monday-Friday 7:00am-5:00pm with every other Saturday required; compensation is $25-$28 per hour; location Cheshire, CT, in-person environment.
Required Qualifications
- CDL-A license with medical card
- Minimum of 3 years verifiable CDL Class A experience
- Ability to drive a manual transmission
- Completion of Academy facilitator training program (or equivalent)
- Experience teaching and evaluating driving maneuvers (pre-trip inspections, range/road maneuvers)
- Familiarity with ELDT and JJ Keller Entry Level Driver Training program
- Proficiency with learning management systems and record-keeping
