Job Summary
Open buildings for use by unlocking doors, turning on lights, and checking heat; report maintenance needs and secure the site at night. Sweep, mop, wax, and polish floors; clean bathrooms, restock supplies, and empty wastebaskets. Operate scrubbers, polishers, and vacuum cleaners while collecting recyclables and performing minor repairs. Shovel snow, spread salt, and assist with grounds care when maintenance personnel are unavailable. Maintain records pertinent to work duties and follow oral or written instructions from supervisors. Perform tasks related to building cleanliness and care throughout the day.
Required Qualifications
- Must be of good character
- Must possess a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Must be able to adjust work routines to meet changing circumstances
- Must be able to carry and move light loads (usually 25-35 lbs, but may be higher) and climbs ladders
- Must be able to perform repetitive manual tasks without close supervision
- Must acquire knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment and procedures
- Must learn to operate custodian equipment safely and to exercise care in its use
- Must understand current OSHA training
- Must be available for 1st shift (10 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
- Must be available for Monday through Friday
- Must be available for 5 days per week
- Must be available for 8 hours per day
- Must be available for 12 months starting immediately
- Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
