Job Summary
Perform and monitor actual dialysis treatments under Registered Nurse supervision within the correctional community at John A. Graham Correctional Facility. Execute hemodialysis procedures per policy, ensuring safety checks, sterile technique, and infection control protocols. Monitor and record treatment parameters including vital signs and weight changes, while obtaining blood samples and administering oxygen as directed. Maintain unit cleanliness, wash equipment, and manage water treatment systems and supply stocking. Prepare daily logs, file laboratory reports, and participate in IDT and QAPI committee meetings. Report errors, near misses, and staff or patient complaints to appropriate personnel. Work six days per week with a schedule ranging from five to fifteen hours daily.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Nationally recognized Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician certification (CCHT) or equivalent
- Current CPR certification
- One year of clinical dialysis experience
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and satisfactorily communicate in English
- Strong technical/computer proficiency with laptops, tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.
- Understanding of basic renal function and the consequences of renal failure
- Basic knowledge of treatment modalities available to ESRD patients
- Understanding and ability to perform the hemodialysis procedure according to Rendevor Dialysis policies and procedures
- Ability to ensure all safety checks are completed before dialysis is initiated
- Ability to monitor and record dialysis treatment parameters such as vital signs, weight changes, etc.
- Understanding and demonstration of sterile technique
- Knowledge of and adherence to all Rendevor Dialysis policies and procedures for infection control
- Ability to perform thorough patient assessments
- Ability to obtain blood samples and culture specimens as ordered and perform routine tests
- Ability to administer oxygen as necessary by cannula or mask under direction of the nurse
- Ability to participate in CPR as needed
- Ability to wash machines, station area and chairs according to established procedures after each patient treatment
- Ability to prepare daily dialysis logs and set-ups for each shift of patients as directed
- Ability to prepare, record and file laboratory reports as directed
- Ability to stock and order necessary blood work supplies
- Ability to maintain a neat and clean environment
- Ability to perform all tasks necessary for the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of the unit
- Ability to participate in the IDT and QAPI committee and attend meetings as needed and/or requested
- Ability to identify and report concerns, issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Ability to participate in performance improvement projects within licensure, certification, and scope of practice
- Ability to participate in annual QAPI training and other continuing education, as assigned, and required
- Ability to provide suggestions for alternate strategies for indicators not improving
- Ability to assist in building and maintaining a facility/clinic culture of safety and quality
- Ability to report errors and near misses so that steps can be taken to prevent recurrence
- Ability to report any negative feedback, complaints, grievances from other staff members, patients, and families
- Ability to use evidence-based guidelines and proper infection control practices
- Ability to contribute to harmonious and constructive working relationships with all staff members
- Ability to ensure the confidentiality of patient, employee, and company information
- Ability to participate in self and/or peer evaluations
- Ability to promote a teamwork approach by offering information, advice, and assistance to all unit staff members
- Ability to communicate significant information to appropriate team members and document in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
- Ability to check email at least weekly and respond appropriately and timely
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality

- Ability to perform other duties as required and/or assigned
- Ability to work the full schedule which may range from five to fifteen hours per day
