Full-Time Daycare Assistant

Job Summary
Assist teachers in carrying out the daily curriculum while maintaining a safe, orderly environment through housekeeping duties and meal/snack preparation. Interact with children at their cognitive level to provide supervision and report any concerns to the staff member in charge. Before discussing problems with parents, consult with a supervisor for proper delivery. Build positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and community members while acting as a positive role model. Perform other duties as assigned. This full-time role at UP With Kids Daycare requires working between 5:45 AM and 5:00 PM with various hours, lifting up to 35 pounds, and standing for long periods. Candidates must obtain mandatory reporting, CPR, first aid, and universal precautions training within 90 days of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 Years Of Age
- Be able to obtain required certifications with in 90 of employment
- Required training: Within the first three months of employment
- Two hours of Iowa's training for mandatory reporting of child abuse
- At least one hour of training regarding universal precautions and infectious disease control annually
- Certification in American Red Cross or American Heart Association infant, child, and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or equivalent certification approved by the Department
- Certification in infant, child, and adult first aid that uses a nationally recognized curriculum or is received from a nationally recognized training organization including the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, the National Safety Council, American Safety and Health Institute or MEDIC First Aid or an equivalent certification approved by the Department
- Health and Safety Preservice Training
- Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to interact with the children on their level
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with children of varied ages highly desired
- Experience preferred
