Job Summary

Prepare high-quality, presentable meals for residents according to approved recipes and therapeutic diets while estimating food requirements and controlling serving portions to eliminate waste. Manage food service operations by preparing menus, reviewing expenditures, establishing department priorities, and ensuring compliance with State food service standards and Location policies. Maintain clean, sanitary work areas using a clean-as-you-go principle and ensure staff adhere to sanitation and hygiene standards. Respond to resident and family concerns with empathy, follow up on special requests or complaints, and assist in dining room serving as needed. Collaborate with the Executive Director on vendors, suppliers, and budget planning while maintaining current SERV Safe certification and attending in-service training.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma/GED
Basic computer skills including the use of the internet, MS Word, and MS Excel
Three (3) years' experience in supervisory position in food preparation and service
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in cooking for large groups
Must have ability to supervise others while continuing to be trained on-the-job in food preparation, cooking, estimating quantities and other service duties
Must have sound knowledge of the principles of accounting, record keeping, budget planning, and purchasing procedures
Must be able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and to exert 20 pounds of force frequently
Must be able to read and follow recipes
Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
Must handle standardized situations and incorporate moderate variables
Must be able to organize and execute appealing meals of consistent quality in a timely manner
Must be able to pay attention to detail and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
