Job Summary
Cook in a residential school/educational setting responsible for preparing nutritious, regulated meals meeting KSDE standards and dietary needs for students with therapeutic dietary restrictions and neurodevelopmental disabilities. Responsibilities include nutrition-focused meal preparation, sanitation and safety compliance, client-centered service, inventory and resource management, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with nutrition and clinical teams to ensure timely meals and adherence to health protocols. Requires 3+ years cooking in relevant environments, high school diploma or equivalent, and KSDE food safety certification; proficiency in food safety, time management, teamwork, and communication is essential.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience cooking in a LTC, School, Nursing Home, or cafeteria environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 hours of CEU’S, Certification in food safety and sanitation is required by KSDE
- Experience with inventory resource management and ordering systems preferred
