Job Summary
Prepare and cook nutritious meals for residential clients using batch scratch techniques while accommodating specific dietary restrictions and allergies. Coordinate with the Head Chef and treatment team to ensure menu planning aligns with approved guidelines and client wellness needs. Maintain strict food safety compliance by monitoring temperatures, documenting storage conditions, and completing daily kitchen sanitation. Follow portion sizes and nutrition requirements established by facility dietitian reviews. This role supports adolescent clients at Hidden Creek Recovery & Retreat, a residential treatment program for behavioral health needs. The Cook works under the supervision of the Head Chef to foster a safe, organized food service environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified Food Handler certification
- Knowledge of culinary techniques, nutrition, and dietary practices
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation standards, and food waste control
- Knowledge of proper food preparation and storage temperatures
- Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment
- Ability to prepare meals efficiently while maintaining quality and consistency
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Minimum of 2 years of culinary or food service experience
- Experience working in healthcare, residential, hospitality, or commercial food service settings
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of culinary or food service experience preferred
- Certified Food Handler certification preferred (required within applicable timeframe if not already obtained)
