Job Summary
Prepare meals according to planned menus and recipes under the direction of the Culinary Operations and Innovation Manager, including specially requested diets and alternatives for food allergies. Ensure dining tables are set properly and meals are portioned and ready for service by scheduled times while maintaining kitchen, dining room, and food storage cleanliness. Clean and sanitize all food preparation surfaces, dishes, and utensils after every meal, and provide leadership and supervision to volunteers regarding food handling practices. Maintain hospitality for patients, residents, volunteers, and staff. Requires current Food Handler certification, three years of restaurant industry experience, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and rotating holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Culinary school
- High school diploma or GED
- Current Food Handler certification
- Minimum three (3) years' experience working in the restaurant industry
- Knowledge of proper food handling and preparation
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and rotating holidays
- Ability to perform physical labor or repetitive motions necessary in kitchen operation
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with staff, volunteers, and patients
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with people experiencing homelessness
- Previous experience working with volunteers
- Spanish language skills
