Job Summary
Assist with the supervision and safety of students on school buses, ensuring behavioral, health, and safety needs are met while reporting policy infractions. Physically aid the driver in loading and unloading students, including those with accommodations like wheelchairs, and perform visual safety equipment inspections for harnesses and tie-down devices. Maintain interior bus cleanliness, report equipment damage, and complete required online training and professional development. Adhere to district policies, maintain confidentiality, and operate all district equipment. This full-time, non-exempt role involves an 8-hour work day on an academic calendar with occasional physical demands including standing, walking, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Eighteen (18) years of age or older
- Ability to support the behavioral, health, and safety needs of students, including those with additional accommodations
- Ability to take online training
- Practical knowledge of equipment needed to perform job functions
- Effective communication
- Ability to use good judgment
- Caring and optimistic attitude toward students
- Competency working in a culturally diverse environment, or the willingness to acquire these skills
- Ability and willingness to operate all District equipment
- No more than 10 family/personal leave days used
- Zero (0) incidents involving formal discipline during the past 12 months from the posting date
- Meets all other stated requirements of the job posting and AFSCME Transfer Guidelines
- Ability and willingness to accept the responsibility of the position
- Must not have any 'no call/no show' incidents during the past 12 months from the posting date
- Working for said term (230 day or academic calendar) prior to the job posting date
- Has been an employee since September 30 of the current school year
Desired Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience working with children
