Job Summary
Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for students, staff, and families in classroom instruction and preschool activities. Facilitate effective communication to support students' educational and social development while collaborating with teachers, staff, and specialists. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards of practice. Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development as required. This full-time, school-year position at Wilbur D Mills fosters an inclusive educational environment for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) certification required, or willingness to obtain certification within a designated timeframe
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with young children in an educational setting preferred, but not required
- Commitment to supporting inclusive early childhood education
