Job Summary
Plan, organize, and supervise all administrative and operational activities for the Activities Department, directing the development and implementation of recreational, educational, and therapeutic programs tailored to resident needs. Schedule individual and group activities seven days per week, ensuring daily cognitive, recreational, and ADL components while overseeing resident transportation and volunteer program monitoring. Manage staff orientation, performance evaluations, and in-service training; establish the Resident Council and contribute to care plan goals, QAPI, and behavior management committees. Prepare monthly activity calendars, document MDS reports and progress notes, and maintain safety protocols, including controlled hazardous items and locked storage. Participate in emergency drills, budget development, and mandatory training, adhering to federal and state regulations while reporting compliance issues or resident abuse immediately.
Required Qualifications
- Current/ Active Food Handlers Permit
- Has 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, one of which was full-time in a therapeutic activities program
- Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant
- Has completed a training course approved by the State
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise judgement
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations

- Ability to coordinate and conduct meetings, set and achieve goals
- Ability to be organized and efficient
- Basic computer skills
- CPR licensed and trained in first aid

- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public

- Must not pose a threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position
- Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary
- Ability to assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
