Job Summary
Design, develop, and own full-stack solutions managing analysis, prototypes, and vehicles by integrating simulation software, emulators, and flight software. Rapidly build prototypes to prove design concepts and quantify technical constraints while creating high-fidelity simulation and emulation software for all vehicles. Continuously improve platform reliability, performance, and scalability, then partner with users to deliver new features that enhance their experience and productivity. This high-impact role within the Special Programs team builds distributed systems used by engineers to fly rockets and test vehicles. You will work on mission-critical software that helps prove innovations for multiplanetary life.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline and 1+ years of experience in software development; or 3+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degree
- 1+ years of professional experience building full-stack, single page web applications using JavaScript libraries (React, Lit, etc.)
- Professional experience developing applications using Python, C, C++, or Rust
- Experience with relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle)
- Active Top Secret, Top Secret SCI, or DOE Level Q clearance, or the ability and willingness to obtain one
- This position requires successfully obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret Security Clearance as a condition of employment
- Your ability to secure the necessary clearance is essential for fulfilling key responsibilities of the role
- Should you be unable to obtain it, SpaceX reserves the right to modify or terminate your employment to align with operational needs
- Note that an active clearance may provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions; if so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol test
- Able to work extended hours and weekends when necessary to support proposal or critical project timelines

- Professional experience programming in object-oriented languages (C++, Java, Python, or C#)
- Strong software design and development skills
- Experience building highly available, concurrent systems
- Experience with containerized solutions (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Professional experience with Linux/Unix systems and tools
- Experience with high-performance computing systems
- Experience contributing to a large-scale software project (>100,000 lines of code) as part of a software team
- Strong skills in debugging, performance optimization, and test automation
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with evolving requirements
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, take initiative, and communicate effectively
