Job Summary
Lead initiatives within a squad by serving as Tech Lead alongside Product Owners and UX designers, driving features from PI Planning to production. Design and evolve the Broker Experience Ecosystem by solving complex problems, while owning production stability through troubleshooting, performance optimization, and identifying fixes. Guide and mentor developers through code reviews, coaching, and leading by example to contribute to a strong engineering culture. Leverage AI tools such as Devin and Cursor to enhance productivity within a microservice-based environment using Java, Angular, and OpenShift. This hybrid role supports Intact's modernization of commercial insurance technology, with a primary location in downtown Toronto.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Computer engineering, science or any combination of equivalent education and experience
- 8+ years of software design and development experience
- Strong understanding of Service-Oriented and Microservice Architecture
- Strong command of software design patterns
- Good understanding of UX design principles
- Solid working knowledge of frontend technologies: JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, HTML, CSS
- 5+ years of experience building server-side apps using Java, Spring Boot, JDBC, Hibernate and creating web services or APIs using REST
- 5+ years of experience with relational databases such as Oracle 12+, PL/SQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Elasticsearch
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
- This role is a hybrid role (2 days in office per week) with the primary location being in downtown Toronto
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Kafka or event-driven architecture
- Familiarity with OpenShift/Kubernetes container deployments
- Testing frameworks: JUnit, Mockito, Jest
- CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, SonarQube, etc.)
