Job Summary
Build and ship end-to-end features across the WebinarJam live broadcast studio, attendee rooms, and webinar creation wizard, owning work from database schema through production. Diagnose and fix production issues in real-time under load, optimizing queries and background jobs while maintaining data correctness across a sharded multi-database architecture. Write tests to increase backend coverage, participate in code reviews, and document solutions to onboard new engineers and reduce technical debt. Collaborate directly with Product to scope feasibility and support Customer Support in diagnosing issues.
Required Qualifications
- Five or more years building and maintaining production web applications
- Strong PHP and modern Laravel in a large existing codebase
- Production Vue experience
- Relational database fluency at scale
- Real experience with background job systems, including idempotency, retries, and dead-lettering
- Comfort improving a mature system incrementally, and taking ownership of code you did not write
Desired Qualifications
- Strong React or Angular experience with genuine willingness to work in Vue 3 daily
- Real-time or collaborative application experience: WebSockets, Firebase, or comparable publish and subscribe synchronisation, including reconnection and out-of-order state
- Browser media APIs, and WebRTC or HLS playback in production
- Twilio Video, Agora, LiveKit or Daily is an advantage, as is comfort reading and modifying TypeScript
- Experience supporting a real-time system where downtime is immediately visible to users
- Multi-tenant or sharded database architectures
- Third-party marketing and CRM integrations, and their messy failure modes
- Transactional email deliverability: DKIM, sender reputation, bounce and complaint handling
- Payment provider migrations
