Job Summary
Backend-leaning full-stack engineer role at CueBox, a performing-arts software startup. Build, maintain and scale our backend systems (Golang/Protobuf/Postgres) while collaborating with a React/Next.js frontend stack. Pioneer new features and product areas, influence technical direction, and contribute to engineering culture through design discussions, code reviews, and documentation. Work within a hybrid office model (New York, NY) with three in-office days per week (Tue–Thu) and focus on data-intensive applications, API design, payments processing enhancements (split payments, Pay Later, Fraud Prevention), and data pipelines, all in a fast-growing startup environment.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Proven track record of building performant, data-intensive applications using a strongly typed backend language in a complex domain
- Experience with backend APIs and a TypeScript/React frontend (preferred)
- Experience with Golang/Protobuf/Postgres backend; React/Next.js/Chakra UI frontend; Python data pipelines; hosted on GCP
- Ability to work independently and own large or ambiguous problem areas
- Strong communication skills for technical and nontechnical audiences
- Experience with online payments, consumer-facing flows, or analytics for large datasets
- Nice-to-have: Experience building AI-enabled features in SaaS products
