Job Summary
Design, build, and ship native and cross-platform mobile applications for iOS and Android while developing front-end components with React.js and scalable back-end RESTful APIs using Node.js. Polish the app for a commercial launch by optimizing performance, squashing bugs, and refining the user experience before the end of the year. Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, data scientists, and analysts to deliver clean interfaces and robust systems within an Agile environment. Perform code reviews, contribute to documentation, and mentor fellow guild members to maintain high engineering standards. This role supports a growing portfolio including federal initiatives for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in full stack development
- strong proficiency in React.js
- Demonstrated experience building and shipping mobile applications (iOS and/or Android)
- using React Native, Swift, Kotlin, Flutter, or similar
- Solid understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end tooling
- Experience with back-end development using Node.js, Express, or similar
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent communication skills
- Willingness and ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance from the U.S. Government
Desired Qualifications
- A willingness to challenge the status quo and think outside the box
- Deep expertise in your field, balanced with humility
- Experience publishing to the App Store and Google Play
- Experience using Claude Code (or similar) to accelerate quality code development
- Experience developing in highly regulated environments (Government, finance, healthcare, aviation, etc)
- Background in public-facing or commercial applications where user experience was a critical success factor
