Job Summary
Drive the school system fuel truck to deliver diesel to campus buses, operating pumps and monitoring meters for safe fuel transfer. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and tank, maintaining logs for driving hours and product measurements. Perform basic preventive maintenance on fleet trucks including fluid changes, filter replacements, and brake checks. Assist senior mechanics with troubleshooting, part replacements, and minor repairs on facility fuel tanks, valves, and hoses to prevent leaks. Maintain strict adherence to DOT and OSHA safety rules while lifting heavy equipment outdoors in varying weather. Requires a valid Class A or B CDL with HazMat and Tanker endorsements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without an automatic restriction
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) and Tanker endorsements (or ability to acquire them quickly)
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, equipment servicing, and vehicle maintenance systems
- Ability to lift heavy hoses and equipment (up to 50 lbs)
- Strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) and OSHA safety rules
