Job Summary
Excavate waste coal, farm fines, and load/unload trucks while operating front-end loaders, bulldozers, and water trucks. Place, compact, and grade ash for final cover; mix soil, plant grasses, and maintain entry roads by fixing potholes and clearing culverts. Service mobile equipment, perform mechanical maintenance, and monitor fuel quality through sampling and top sizing. Ensure all operations meet MSHA safety standards and comply with environmental laws by controlling dust, erosion, and sedimentation. Requires high school diploma, five to ten years of surface mining experience, and ability to recognize site problems.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- five to 10 years' experience in surface mining or surface reclamation
- Thorough understanding of heavy equipment operation and mine site reclamation activities
- Ability to monitor and record fuel site activities
- Ability to recognize problems and communicate them to appropriate management
