Job Summary
Provide math tutoring through workshops, small group sessions, and individual instruction under the Director of Academic Success. Develop instructional materials for mathematics, meet with students regularly to clarify learning problems and improve study skills, utilize current syllabi and approved materials, assist with Learning Lab resources, and engage in outreach to students and faculty college-wide. Use computers for instructional purposes, participate in college-wide and departmental meetings, and accommodate evening, weekend, and off-campus assignments as needed. No supervisory responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Mathematics from an accredited institution, with a grade of A or B in the course(s) tutored required
- One year experience teaching or tutoring Mathematics, preferably at a college level OR equivalent combination of training and experience which would provide similar knowledge and skills
- Three years teaching/tutoring experience at the post-secondary or secondary level and experience with adult learners in a college and/or university setting
- Demonstrated knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Knowledge of educational technology expected
- Demonstrated experience providing exceptional influencing skills with young adults
- Fluency in English and strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluently in English
