Job Summary
Administer, pour, pass, and document all routinely prescribed medications per physician orders while observing the five rights for safe administration. Order medications from the pharmacy 7 days prior to stockout, ensure resident privacy and dignity, and assist with daily care tasks including toileting, grooming, bathing, and feeding. Take and record vital signs prior to administration, observe reactions and side effects, and immediately report any medication errors or unsafe conditions to the Wellness Director. Work a rotating schedule of 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM or 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM nights and days, with full-time hours totaling 36 weekly or part-time two days weekly. Valid QMAP certification in Colorado is required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid QMAP certification in CO
- Successful completion of state approved Medication Administration training
- First Aid certification as required by the ALF regulations
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Experience administering medication in an assisted living setting
- Must be capable of making decisions with the interest of the residents at heart
- Must be supportive of company policies and decisions
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procurement manuals, etc
- Must have good communication skills
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English
- Must be able to understand and follow written and oral directions
- Must show good judgement in recognizing symptoms indicative of a resident's change in condition
- Must be able to work with licensed nurses
- Must be aware of limitations and not attempt to exceed these limitations
- Knowledge of required Medication Administration Procedures
- Good understanding of basis of universal precautions to avoid infection of residents and self or contamination of equipment and supplies
- Minimum three years' experience in senior living
- Previous experience with an Assisted Living community
