FT Patient Care Tech - Med Surg/Ortho Unit (Night Shift)

Job Summary
Perform vital signs and patient care on assigned groups, collecting and documenting data while reporting abnormalities to the registered nurse. Manage patient assignments effectively, maintain confidentiality, and utilize appropriate safety and infection control practices. Assume full responsibility and accountability for all tasks assigned under the direction of the nursing team. Participate in educational activities, unit meetings, and quality initiatives to maintain competency through regular testing. Work 36 hours per week in rotating 12-hour night shifts (6:45pm–6:45am) with every fourth weekend rotation. Requires current BLS certification and a high school diploma.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Current certification in basic life support (BLS)
- Ability to obtain BLS certification before working independently with patients
- Must be able to effectively and efficiently make use of time and resources
- Must be able to plan and organize work
- Must have basic computer skills
- Must have professional and effective communication skills
- Must be able to promote effective communication at all levels
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts: 6:45pm - 6:6:45am
- Every 4th weekend rotation
- 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant
- Certification as a Medical Assistant
- Previous experience in patient care
