Job Summary
Provide direct patient care as a Certified Nursing Assistant under RN supervision, assisting with activities of daily living, homemaking and related support for hospice patients; deliver 1:1 patient/family assistance, document services clearly by shift end, and promptly report changes in patient condition. Rotate assignments to meet program needs, support unit operations (e.g., reporting low linens, checking refrigerator temperatures, light housekeeping), and maintain a safe environment in accordance with hospice policies. Maintain Maryland CNA certification and complete required hospice training and competency evaluations. Demonstrate effective communication with supervising nurses and other aides, and support patients and families with emotional care and respite as needed. The role requires physical ability to lift/move patients and navigate varied surfaces, with 12 hours of in-service training annually and ongoing competency assessments.
Required Qualifications
- Current Maryland CNA certification
- Successful completion of hospice regulations and standards training
- Ability to understand and follow spoken and written instructions
- Ability to lift, push, pull or move patients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to negotiate level and unlevel surfaces
