Job Summary
The Surgery Materials Coordinator orders and maintains inventories of consumable supplies within the Department of Surgical Services, coordinates consignment instruments and supplies for specialty cases, and participates in reviewing OR inventory and cost-saving opportunities. Responsibilities include monitoring stock levels and par levels, reviewing future schedules for conflicts, procuring supplies/equipment, processing repair requests, ordering special implants, maintaining PBDS/kits and preference cards, labeling and organizing supplies, communicating changes to charge master, meeting with vendors on issues, assisting in departmental meetings, and upholding SHC’s C-I-CARE standards while interacting professionally with physicians, staff, volunteers, and external providers.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years to 3 years of Operating Room experience
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiar with Materials Management Systems
- Working knowledge of computer skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read, write and understand the English language
- Strong organization and follow-up skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
