Job Summary
Operate construction and maintenance equipment and power tools (dump trucks, front-end loader, backhoe, vactor, flush truck, compressors, jack hammers, concrete saws, street sweeper, sewer rodders, mowers, edgers and blowers) to support street, traffic, and sewer/storm water maintenance. Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance. Apply underground utility locating procedures and Blue Stake markings. Install street barricades and cones prior to repairs; direct and control traffic; maintain flagging certification. Be available for recall during sewer/storm sewer emergencies, snow/ice control, and other emergencies; respond to public inquiries courteously and resolve issues. Participate in safety and risk management activities; work as a team and communicate effectively. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, and one year of general maintenance experience. Special requirements include Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 150 days of hire, wastewater 1 certification within one year ( Sewer Division), and completion of NIMS IS100, IS200, IS700, and IS800 within one year. Attendance at recall duties during emergencies and potential 24-hour standby. The position is full-time with a non-exempt status and benefits; flexibility to respond to emergencies and perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- At least one year of general maintenance experience
- Possession of or ability to obtain Class A Utah CDL with tanker endorsement within 150 days of hire
- Possession of or ability to obtain wastewater 1 certification within one year (if hired in Sewer Division)
- Complete NIMS IS100, IS200, IS700 and IS800 within one year of hire
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment safely
