FT Assistant Groundskeeper - Soldier Field

Job Summary
Maintain and paint the playing field for Chicago Fire MLS soccer matches, manage irrigation systems, and perform daily upkeep of surrounding parkland grass areas. Operate powered equipment including mowers, tractors, and snow blowers to mow, edge, water, and fertilize the field. Supervise field labor staff during tarping, terraplas installation, and structural setup while coordinating with suppliers and managing the sod budget. Paint field markings for football, soccer, and concerts, and monitor weather via Weather Command for inclement weather planning. Work long and irregular hours including weekends and holidays in inclement conditions. Requires an Illinois Pesticide Applicator License and three to five years of groundskeeping experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university with a concentration in Groundskeeping, Landscaping, or related field
- Three to five years related experience and/or training as a groundskeeper or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of the principles of groundskeeping, field maintenance, and equipment
- Obtains an Illinois Pesticide Applicator License
- Excellent planning and adaptation skills
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Demonstrate good problem-solving and communication skills
- Supervisory experience
- Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Proficient in painting NFL and MLS fields
- Ability to obtain Illinois Pesticide Applicator License within 90 days of employment if not already possessed
- Ability to work under limited supervision and to interact with all levels of staff including upper management
- Ability to work long and irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include, daytime, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Physical ability to maneuver around the facility, at times, walking and/or standing up to 8-10 hours daily
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes inclement weather
Desired Qualifications
- Groundskeeping experience in an NFL, MLS, or NCAA environment
