Job Summary
Oversee program staff, operations, and compliance to ensure quality standards and contract requirements are met. Conduct staff performance evaluations, lead weekly team meetings on classroom management and social-emotional learning, and provide individual supervision with feedback and goal setting. Coordinate community outreach to recruit participants and prepare daily reports on attendance and program content. Collaborate with the Program Manager, Borough Director, and curriculum departments to develop monthly professional development workshops. Monitor student registration, staff ratios, and building permits to maintain full compliance. This full-time role requires in-person attendance Monday through Friday, with potential weekend or evening events. Salary ranges from $58,500 to $62,500.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work
- At least 18.0 credit hours from an accredited college or university in the field of Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in urban education, youth development or community organizing
- At least one (1) year of supervisory experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with youth & adolescents in New York City
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, manage priorities and workflow, while maintaining a positive, patient and calm demeanor, and establishing a positive team spirit with staff, students, and entire school community
- Strong understanding of New York City and New York State education requirements in an urban setting
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals both in person, virtually and over the phone, applying tact and discretion as situations demand
- Ability to articulate outcome requirements and provide the necessary and appropriate resources and support for school and New York Edge staff members to successfully deliver on objectives
- Knowledge of after-school programs, supervising staff, and program planning
- Ability to de-escalate potentially risky or difficult situations
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs
- Must be able to lift or move objects/materials as needed
- Safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and Department of Health
