Job Summary
Quality Assurance Technician I responsible for testing and inspecting products at various stages of production, compiling and evaluating statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. Duties include official release of ingredients and finished goods, conducting micro testing (plating, ATP, swabs, dilutions), performing preoperational inspections, incoming ingredient analysis, finished product analysis, sampling, calibrating lab equipment, preparing chemical solutions, and maintaining housekeeping. Adheres to GMPs and HACCP, conducts QA audits, and supports safety and sanitation programs. Requires basic math, the ability to read and interpret test results, and effective communication of discrepancies. Role involves a 12-hour shift with potential overnight work and lifting up to 50 pounds; work environment is a manufacturing facility with allergens present. Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Background in Food Science or Microbiology preferred
- Two years’ experience in food manufacturing (preferred)
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Ability to read and interpret test results; basic math skills (averages, percentages)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; able to work 12 hour shifts and overnight
- Knowledge of GMPs, sanitation, HACCP; ability to conduct various chemical, micro, and physical analytical testing
- Strong communication and leadership skills; able to coach/train coworkers as requested by management
- Ability to communicate discrepancies to supervisors and key staff
- Ability to smell and taste
