Job Summary
Direct and coordinate quality inspection of ingredients and materials produced in manufacturing processes by maintaining current product specifications and managing supplier approvals. Create, maintain, and train documents for the SQF auditing system, including SOPs and SSOPs, while setting up controls for lab procedures and equipment. Conduct quarterly lab proficiency testing, manage accurate reporting of inbound products and inventories, and ensure proper maintenance and calibration of lab and plant equipment. Drive continuous improvement for QA, manage quality data entry, and assist the Quality Manager with SQF needs. Supervise FSQ technicians and ensure adherence to GMPs, safety procedures, and all quality processes. Work night shifts Tuesday through Saturday, 9pm to 5am, with some travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related degree
- Two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including a proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Location: The role will be located at the SunOpta Plant in Allentown, PA
- Shift: This is a night shift role, Tuesday through Saturday, 9pm to 5am. Some flexibility may be needed
- Travel: Some travel may be required
- Relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Prior food company QA experience/internship
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices
- Experience with thermal processing, pasteurization, and / or experience with aseptic processing techniques is a definite advantage for the role
- Experience with Oracle is a plus
- Experience with statistical process control
