Job Summary
Frontend Web Designer role in the Marketing & Communications department at Associated Students of SFSU (student position, up to 20 hours/week). Focus on the visual aesthetics and user interface of the AS website, implementing user research to develop intuitive interfaces, creating engaging visuals, and maintaining brand consistency. Collaborates with Backend Web Developer and Marketing/Communications team to align design initiatives with organizational goals; responsibilities include designing UI wireframes, mockups, prototypes, creating graphics, ensuring brand standards, and staying informed on design trends. Requires experience with WordPress (Elementor a plus), Adobe XD & Figma, HTML/CSS, Illustrator, Photoshop, and knowledge of Google Analytics/SEO.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a currently enrolled SFSU student with a minimum of 6 units for undergraduates or 4 units for graduates in Fall 2024
- Experience with creating custom pages & posts in WordPress or another web building platform (Elementor for Wordpress knowledge is a plus)
- Knowledge of prototyping tools such as Adobe XD & Figma
- Familiarity with web design principles, usability best practices, and user-centered design methodologies
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
- Some knowledge of Google Analytics & SEO
- Some knowledge of HTML & CSS
- Self-motivated, takes initiative, able to maintain strong working relationships
- Fast learner, well organized & detail oriented
- Ability to establish priorities and work independently
