Job Summary
Front Office Assistant in Arcata provides essential front-desk and administrative support for the Behavioral Health section. Responsibilities include greeting clients, handling phone calls, routing messages, scheduling appointments and maintaining scheduling templates, organizing and filing documents, processing visitor check-ins, coordinating supplies, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. The role requires customer-service skills, cultural awareness and humility when working with American Indian/Alaska Native people, the ability to handle crisis situations, and readiness to participate in cultural trainings. Levels II and III expand duties to policy development, community referrals, data collection, reports, and advanced office/tech tasks. Educational requirement is a US-accredited high school diploma or GED, with varying related experience by level; Level III may require an Associate’s degree or equivalent plus significant behavioral health experience and advanced Excel/Word skills. Ability to work independently, attention to detail, and willingness to learn about American Indian culture are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (Level I); one year related experience preferred but not required
- Level II: two to five years related experience in behavioral health or related office work; or equivalent
- Level III: Associate's degree or equivalent and one year in behavioral health or five+ years related experience, or High School Diploma/GED with five+ years related experience; advanced Excel/Word skills (Level III)
- Experience with electronic health records preferred
- Basic computer skills (email and word processing)
