Job Summary
Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspections of vehicles to verify tire pressure, fluid levels, and safety equipment, reporting any issues immediately. Safely operate company vehicles and follow maps to service each customer as identified on route sheets or assigned by dispatchers. Operate manual and automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate compactors, and dispose of collected material at designated facilities. Identify unsatisfactory waste containers, tag them per departmental procedures, and clean areas around accidental spills while monitoring vehicle conditions to minimize downtime. Complete required route, productivity sheets, and VCRs to maintain adherence to departmental standards. Work flexible hours including swing shifts to support operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid AZ or DZ license
- Clean driver abstract and CVOR
- A minimum of 3 years commercial driver experience
- Able to drive a standard vehicle
- Able to read and write legibly
- Able to comply with company policy on controlled substances and alcohol
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety standards and operational procedures related to heavy machinery
- Ability to work flexible hours, including swing shifts
- Physical capability to operate heavy equipment and perform manual tasks
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
Desired Qualifications
- Additional certifications related to equipment maintenance or safety training
- Familiarity with computerized inventory or workflow management systems
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and supervisors
