Job Summary
Execute complex preventive maintenance and precision mechanical work on can-making and ancillary equipment per standards. Lead major overhauls including tear-down, inspection, measurement, rebuild, alignment, and startup verification while diagnosing root causes during breakdowns to restore stable operation. Perform advanced troubleshooting, document findings, and coordinate with Electricians/Controls for safe repairs. Manage work orders in eMaint, confirm parts with Planning and Stores, and escalate safety or quality risks. Develop Maintainer-level capability within 12 months through onboarding and shadowing. Requires Licensed Industrial Millwright/Machinist with 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience. Required Qualifications
- Licensed Industrial Millwright and/or Machinist (Red Seal or equivalent)
- 3–5 years' hands-on maintenance experience in industrial/manufacturing (high-speed preferred)
- Strong mechanical fundamentals: bearings, lubrication, drives, gearboxes, pneumatics/hydraulics, alignment, precision measurement, and rigging
- Practical fabrication/repair skills: welding, drilling, grinding, and use of shop equipment
- Manual machining (lathe, drill press, mills)
- Able to read/interpret drawings and document work clearly
- Basic electrical/controls awareness to support safe troubleshooting coordination
- Committed to safety, procedures, and continuous improvement
- Proficient with digital systems for work orders and parts (e.g., Emaint)
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience with metal packaging/can making equipment or other high-speed converting/packaging equipment
- Experience with planned maintenance systems (CMMS), precision rebuilds, and structured PM programs
- Ability to mentor others informally and work effectively across shifts
