Job Summary
Operate front-end loader and wood grinder to support biomass receiving, storage, processing, and loading for biomass fuel supply; primarily assist Heavy Equipment Mechanic with diagnostics, root-cause analysis, and repairs, and perform routine maintenance and log keeping. Maintain site equipment, assist in safe operations, monitor compliance with environmental permits, assist in loading/unloading materials, and ensure safe interaction with customers and vendors. Requires a high school education, wheel loader experience, diesel equipment knowledge, valid driver's license, DOT Medical card eligibility, and strong communication and safety focus. Knowledge of engines, hydraulics, welding, conveyors, and preventive maintenance is a plus; ability to work independently or as part of a team in a plant environment with variable conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- One or more years of experience operating a wheel loader
- Working knowledge of diesel equipment; interest in heavy equipment maintenance and repair
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Must have or be able to obtain DOT Medical card
- Ability to operate machinery skillfully and safely
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Dependability and adaptability with a sound work ethic
- Preferred: Formal training in machine/industrial operations or maintenance; experience with wood grinders
