Job Summary
Greet guests with a smiling face, operate cash registers, scan barcodes, and process payments for cash, checks, and cards. Suggestively sell add-on items, redeem coupons, and weigh produce while ensuring accurate pricing and proper ID checks. Bag merchandise, monitor checkout stations for supplies, and assist with carry-outs. Resolve guest complaints with courtesy, answer questions, and maintain a clean work area. Stock shelves, check price tags, and prepare for inventory as needed. Maintain uniform standards and adhere to all safety regulations in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or a general education degree (GED)
- Valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit
- Valid Food Handlers Permit (in some cases)
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos
- Ability to communicate with and understand coworkers and guests
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in both whole numbers and in fractions and decimals
- Ability to calculate discounts and percentages
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Must be available to work any shift on Friday or Saturday
- Must be available 80% or more of all shifts each week
- Must be able to stand for most of shift
- Must be able to bend and walk occasionally
- Must be able to use arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more occasionally
- Must be able to push and/or pull 50-100 pounds or more occasionally
- Must have close vision
- Must have depth perception
- Must have the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to climb and balance
- Must be able to communicate and understand
- Must be able to maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit
- Must be able to maintain a valid Food Handlers Permit (in some cases)
- Must be able to work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA
- Must be able to attend and be timely
- Must be able to work outside of scheduled time without District Manager approval is prohibited
Desired Qualifications
- Cashiering experience
- Bilingual skills
- Previous experience in retail or customer service
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures
- Knowledge of basic math for cash transactions
- Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette
