Job Summary
Coordinate surgical procedures by scheduling operative cases, pre-op physicals, and testing while collecting clinical and insurance coding information. Manage the operating room schedule, release open block time, and monitor the bed calendar for accurate census allocation. Handle incoming calls, route inquiries, and greet patients and families while verifying insurance eligibility and collecting copayments. Register patients, maintain medical charts, and coordinate referrals and data exchanges with providers. Confirm equipment scheduling needs for c-arms, sterile supplies, and pathology services. Identify scheduling barriers, implement process improvements, and communicate delays to ancillary departments and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to fifty (50)+ pounds
- Stooping, kneeling and/or crouching daily
- Standing and walking for more than five (5) hours per day
- Running occasionally
- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine
- Documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine
- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
- Documented proof of immunization for Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap)
- Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months
- Evidence of immunity prior to 1st day of scheduled work
- Drug free workplace and pre-employment drug screen which includes marijuana
