Job Summary
Front Desk Receptionist for Harmony Healthcare Long Island. Greets and directs patients and visitors in a pleasant and professional manner; handles patient check-in/check-out; collects demographics and insurance information, verifies insurance eligibility, and enters data into the electronic health record; explains registration forms, obtains signatures, and scans documents; navigates insurance portals and interprets coverage details; verifies referrals or pre-authorizations when required; assists patients with changing primary care providers if needed; enters sliding scale information; collects payments and reconciles daily cash; schedules appointments; makes reminder and no-show calls; manages a large volume of calls on a multi-line phone system; coordinates with physicians and clinical staff to ensure timely patient care; performs other clerical duties and provides coverage in other departments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office & Outlook)
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and pay attention to details
- One (1) year clerical experience in a medical setting preferred
- Health insurance verification, authorization, and/or billing knowledge required
